According to Fioramonti, Theodorou, & Bueno, (2003) prebiotics can be used to manage a bloated gut and clear a depressed mind. Thus, it is important that the study is carried out to find specifically out how they affect the health of stressed students (Williams, 2010).
Delimitation
Some students may find it helpful for their health hence be willing to participate.
The study is chap since it does not require so much funding
Limitations
There will be a problem identifying and sampling academically stressed students.
The research will take a long time hence may lead to loss of participant contact or non-cooperation.
Assumption
There will be a conducive climate to conduct the study.
The participants will respond honestly
Hypothesis
A probiotic results in a greater percentage of healthy days and a lower percentage of academically stressed students reporting a day of cold

Chapter two
Introduction
The chapter will provide information on the effects of probiotics on the general health of human beings more so on the immune system. In the second subheading, there will be a compressive study on the effects of prebiotics in the management of depression that can be one of the major complications of academically stressed students. Lastly, there will be a study on the prevalence of prebiotic use in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The effects of probiotics on human health
According to (Snydman, 2008) probiotics are helpful in maintaining a healthy digestive system. This is achieved through the toxins produced by the prebiotics that inhibit further bacterial growth. In the long run, there is increased uptake of nutrients hence promoting the general health of the population (Isolauri, Sütas, Kankaanpää, Arvilommi, & Salminen, 2001).
Effects of prebiotics on the depressed people
Senok, Ismaeel, & Botta, (2005) argues that prebiotics has a great effect on the management of depression. However, there are minimal studies on the connection between prebiotics and depression. Thus, the study will be useful in determining the effect of these prebiotics on the mental status of students.
Prevalence of the use of probiotics in maintaining a healthy lifestyle
There is a distinct difference in the health of people who have incorporated probiotics in their diet as compared to those who have not (Wolvers et al., 2010). However, there is a low prevalence of people using prebiotics with the aim of maintaining their health (Ouwehand, 2007). The low percentage of people using this essential product is attributed to the
Chapter 3
The study will be a prospective cohort study of students in different districts. The students will be selected randomly from among the academically stressed students.
Data collection instrument
The instrument of data collection will include questioners and forms to be filled while observing students.
Procedure for collecting data
Data will be collected by observing students and interviewing them one on one using the standardized questionnaire for the study. The study will focus on the effect of probiotics on the outcome of students’ health as compared to those who did not take probiotics. The collected data will then be analyzed using the SPSS to determine the effect of probiotics on the health of academically stressed students. Read More
