Extract of sample "Clash of Civilizations"

The premise that people in the same cultural civilization have similar values and norms is not necessarily true. A country such as the United States that is composed of multiple ethnic backgrounds has a culture that is segmented and each group has different views on political, social, economic, and family matters. For example, the Hispanic community has a different perspective on family life. The Hispanic culture believes in family unity at all times and to them, it is normal for their daughters and sons to stay living with them long after adulthood.

Caucasians, on the other hand, have a more independent mentality and the children are eager to move out after they turn 18. The discrepancy within the culture of the United States has occurred even when the Native Americans ruled the land. There were 560 different languages and societies within the Native American culture.  I agree with the author on his perspective that education and technology are correlated. Technological advances have allowed people to study in accredited college programs without the need of ever setting a foot inside a classroom.

Online universities such as the University of Phoenix, DeVry University, and Kaplan University utilized advanced technology that allows students to interact with each other and learn through alternate learning mechanisms such as computer simulations.
